Overview
A 24-key lakeside hotel with good bones and forgettable rooms. The owners asked for suites guests would request by name — and a ground floor that worked as hard at midnight as at check-in.
Challenge
The building is a 1970s concrete frame with low slabs and small punched windows. We could not raise a ceiling or widen an opening, so atmosphere had to come from material depth: smoked oak, brushed brass, woven wool — and a lighting scheme with eleven scenes per suite.
Solution
Six suite types, each composed around a single evening ritual: the bath suite, the fireside suite, the lake-view writing suite. The bar was moved to face the sunset, and occupancy in the rebuilt rooms now runs twenty points above the rest of the building.
